ASTEC complies with ISO standards, if non existing, we apply EN or DIN standards.
The definition of the product depends essentially on the power to be transmitted and the fluid used.
The hoses described below meet the vast majority of applications.
For safety reasons, precautions must be taken for certain applications :
Compressible fluids (such as gases, ...), aggressive fluids, high temperatures ;
In case of doubt: Please consult us.
Determines the internal diameter of the pipe, the chart (next page) indicates the DN according to the speed of the fluid to be respected :
Determines the type of hose to be used. The safety coefficient (in relation to the rupture pressure) is normally 1/4 ;
For static applications, a reduced coefficient of 1/3 or 1/2.5 is permissible.
It is a very important data for lifetime of the equipment: Fluid or ambient temperature ! Please respect our data for each items.
The minimum values are shown in the tables below. Do not allow bending radius that are too small.
NOTE :
The accumulation of important constraints such as pressure, temperature, bending radius, etc...
significantly affects the service life of the hose.
(indicates the DN according to the speed of the fluid to be respected)
*Q= Flow rate of fluid / V= Velocity of fluid / DN = Inside diameter of pipe
The length of a hose is measured from parting line to parting line, in the case of elbow fittings, to the centerline of the parting line.
(see diagram below)
Lengths and tolerances comply with international standards (ISO 11237, ...)
If the two elbow fittings are not in the same plane, the angle α will be defined according to the sketch below. (to the axis)
The hose tables show the recommended operating pressure (PU), also called PMS (Maximum Operating Pressure).
The values indicate the average of the bursting pressures found.
These values are imposed by the standards defining the hoses, we remind you that we follow the EN or ISO specifications.
Pressure to which the hose is subjected during the Hydraulic Test.
This test allows, in a very short time, to have a good indication on the reliability of the assembly, it is mainly used for the development and quality control of the finished product. We carry out this test according to the specifications in force (ISO 6803).
All our flexible hoses conform to the tests required by international standards (ISO, EN, ...).
On request, we can carry out specific or other tests according to customer specifications (Omega test, etc...).
Any mechanical stress irremediably deteriorates the flexible hose, the ISO 17165 standard gives good indications concerning the installation (the service life will be greatly reduced).
The maximum temperature must never exceed the specification values ! We can advise you, consult us.
Caution : proximity of an important heat source such as an exhaust manifold or other...
Specific hoses exist for high or very low ambient temperatures (-50°C), please consult us.
Under pressure, the variations in length of a hose vary between : -4% +2%.
The routing as well as the length of the hose must be optimized !
(use of adapted hose: abrasion resistant, etc...)
Torsion, traction, excessive bending radius, bending just behind the fitting, vibration, attention flexible in movement,...
Reduce performance and lifetime.
Here are some assembly advices :
NOTICE :
A good installation increases the life of the equipment, and reduces maintenance !
The installed hose must not be twisted ! *The hose must not be twisted (check by means of the marking).
The installed hose must not be subjected to tensile stress. *Beware of length variation under pressure.
Once installed, check that the minimum bending radius is respected.*Beware of length variations under pressure.
(Minimum bend radius is indicated for measurement at the hosee centerline at rated operating pressure).
Make sure to observe the minimum bending radius as well as a straight section behind the crimp (minimum 1.5D). We recommend 2.5D for correct installation!
Be sure to choose the right fitting for your installation. (minimize stress)
